After the discovery of 'Shivling' during the survey of the Gyanvapi disputed site at Varanasi, demand has been raised before a local court in Mathura to seal the Shahi Idgah mosque premises which is the subject matter of the Shri Krishna Janmasthan dispute.

An application in this regard has been moved by Advocates Mahendra Pratap Singh, President of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Nyas, and Rajendra Maheshwari on the ground that if the disputed Idgah premises does not get sealed, the Hindu religious relics, which exist there, will be erased and religious character of the property will be changed.

Therefore, apprehending that such change will destroy the object of the litigations pending before the court pertaining to the Shri Krishna Janmasthan, the applicants have prayed to the court to ban any kind of movement in the disputed mosque premises.

Prayer has also been made for issuance of direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mathura and District Magistrate Mathura and CRPF Commandant to seal the property in question and appoint security officers for the premises and direct them not to destroy the ancient Hindu religious symbols present there.

The advocates have alleged that the recovery of the Shivling at the Gyanvapi site has proved that the opposite parties were against the survey only because of this reason and a similar situation is there at the disputed Shahi Idgah site.

The application states that the disputed Idgah site is the property of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi which is the original sanctum sanctorum. "All Hindu religious relics like lotus, Sheshnag, Om, Swastik etc. are there, of which some have already been destroyed and the respondent are trying to eliminate some more," the application claims.

The application is expected to be heard on July 1. Notably, the judgment in the first lawsuit in the Krishna Janmbhoomi- Shahi Idgah dispute, which was filed by Lucknow resident Adv. Ranjana Agnihotri as the next friend of child deity Shri Krishna Virajman of the Katra Keshav Dev temple and six others is set to be pronounced tomorrow i.e. May 19.

The suit was filed by Agnihotri on September 25 last year for shifting the Shahi Masjid Idgah, constructed on a part of the 13.37 acre land of the Shri Krishna Janmabhumi Trust.
