Justice L Nageswara Rao on the day of his demitting the office, during a ceremonial hearing said, “If I'll have an opportunity that I would never want to leave is being on the other side. The Judges come here for a short time and then start learning while working".

Referring to the time when he was elevated, Justice Rao said, “After becoming a judge, I told Justice Gogoi that I'm still thinking like a lawyer and he told me that you keep thinking like a lawyer, there is no problem. It was a very smooth journey. If I would have an opportunity I would never want to leave being on the other side.”

Attorney General KK Venugopal while bidding farewell to Justice Rao said, “This year seems to be a year of attrition. we are losing a very good judge and a cricketer. He has given a large number of very very important judgments.”

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, telling about his past relationship with Justice Rao, said, “As soon as your Lordships accepted the elevation, I lost a very favorite senior whom I used to brief.”

In addition to this, Supreme Court Bar Association Vice President, Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai said, "Milord we should look out for something so that we can keep on interacting, as soon as you went on the other side, we thought you are not very happy as you were missing us."

Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi said that Justice Rao may not be on our side but your Lordship in the arbitration matters will be with us. “we'll meet in the canteen,” Rohatgi added.

In addition to this, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana bidding farewell to Justice Rao said that he is the first generation lawyer, he had no godfather, no background, and reached the top bracket of lawyers of the Supreme Court, which is great. "He is going to be very active in the field of Arbitration,” he said.
